A Nigerian wonder kid who represented the USA at an inter-club tennis championship has come out tops in the tournament, Naij.com Sports has gathered.
The youngster, Gabriel Inyang, had left the shores of Nigeria with his father, Richard, on scholarship training at the IMG Tennis Academy, Florida, the biggest in the world.

And after their training, the youngster was reportedly snapped up by the Zino Garrison Tennis Club, where he was subsequently trained and prepared for a once-in-a-year-tournament.
“The moment we got here, they just noticed how he was training and they immediately said he would represent them in the boys 10 and unders. “He had not played so many championships in Nigeria before our departure, but the way he dazzled his opponents here was quite amazing.
“We are grateful to everyone who enabled us travel in the first place. Wakanow, VGC Tennis Club, Azimuth shipping, among other good Nigerians who helped us with the trip,”
An excited Gabriel added: “it has been fun since the first day we got here, the people here like tennis passionately and I am very happy to have won two major trophies here in America.
“Thanks to everyone who supported us, thanks to my dad also and the tennis club members who trained and asked me to play for them.”
Rotimi Akinloye, a respected national tennis coach had lamented the poor funding of the sport in the country, stating that it is the bane of Nigeria’s development in the racquet game.
